Valley Center
You can't miss that wonderful feeling of spaciousness here. Our 20,000 locals are happily spread over a 100 square mile planning area. Indeed, Valley Center folks are proud of their Community Plan, which offers a small country town center, surrounded by miles of grove lands studded with custom homes on minimum 2 acre lots. Our town center provides convenient local shopping, medical and dental services, and restaurants.
Our award-winning school system is a key attraction for many. With primary, elementary and middle schools flourishing, Valley Center High School opened its brand new campus in September for the 1998 school year. Our most recent community amenities, the new Valley Center Public Library and adjacent Valley Center History Museum welcome visitors and residents of all ages and interests.
Local attractions include Bates Nut Farm, a terrific local picnic and special event area, with gift shop and world-famous roasted nuts, dried fruits and tasty confections. A short drive to Palomar Mountain rewards you with an invigorating alpine environment, views to the Pacific and downtown San Diego, lovely camping sites and hiking trails, and Palomar Observatory, with its world-famous telescope.
